Ranjit Singh and five others today qualified to represent Bhubaneswar Golf Club (BGC) in the East Zone regional final of the McDowell`s Signature Club Golf Championship to be held at Beldih & Golmuri Club on November 17.
They were qualified by emerging winners or runners-up in three handicap categories of the intra-club tournament, the first stage of the multi-city event, held at the BGC course in Bhubaneswar today.
Ranjit tallied 20 stableford points to claim the top honours in the 0-8 handicap category. Dalbir Singh finished runner-up with 20 points.
They were joined by Satyajyoti Mohanty and Rajeev Ray, winner and runner-up respectively in the 9-16 category, scoring 34 and 33 points.
The last two spots of the BGC team were occupied by Anup Mohapatra and Rajeev Sahoo, who secured 32 and 30 points respectively in the 17-24 category.
McDowell`s Signature Club Golf Championship, featuring around 4,000 golfers, representing 32 leading golf clubs from 20 cities across the country, will culminate at Bali, Indonesia, deciding the McDowell`s Signature Champion Golf Club of India.
Apart from the main prize, several exciting spot prizes kept every participant enthused at the closing function. P K Mohanty won the prize for the straightest drive. The closest-to-pin and Kingfisher fun-hole prizes were bagged by Rajeev Ray.
Former India women football captain Sradhanjali Samantaray and U B Group General Manager P K Panigrahi gave away the prizes.
