Star Consultancy Services (SCS), a Bhubaneswar-based financial and investment company has signed to sponsor World under-14 girls` chess champion Padmini Rout for three years.
According to the agreement, which was singned by SCS Director Triveni Kumar Mohanty and Padmini`s father Dr Ashok Kumar Rout at a star hotel here today, the company will bear all expenses required to enable Padmini avail quality coaching and participate in international tournaments during the contract period.
A grand function marked the signing of the agreement with Rajya Sabha Member Pyari Mohan Mohapatra joining the occasion as guest. He felicitated Padmini with a silver memento.
A vedio documentary, featuring footage of the Woman International Master`s World title triumph at Vietnam last month and her practice sessions, came as an added attraction.
According to the company director, SCS has been giving financial assistance to Padmini for the past three years. ``The company is confident that the new sponsorship agreement will help her become a leading chess player of the world,`` he said.
Padmini said the sponsorship support would be big help to realise her goal of becomeing a Grandmaster in three years.
