The opening day proceedings of the four-day Ranji Trophy Group-A Super League match between star-studded Delhi and underdogs Orissa set a record of sort as the green-top pitch at the Firoz Shah Kotla ground in Delhi proved to be a graveyard for batsmen, consuming as many as 24 wickets today.
Hosts Delhi were skittled out for a paltry 78 after being put into bat by Orissa skipper Shiv Sundar Das, who the toss.
But the visitors failed to capitalise on excellent advantage given by the pitch and their three-pronged pace attack as they themselve were bundled out for a meagre 80.
India pace spearhead Ishant Sharma destroyed the Orissa innings, scalping seven wickets for 24 runs, while seven of the Orissa batsmen failed to open their account.
