Former champion Kiran Manisha Mohanty posted win in the ninth round to share the third place with five others with 6.5 points each in the 36th National Women ‘B’ Chess Championship at Nagpur today. Kiran would next meet sole leader Lakshmi P Sahiti (AP).
Woman International Master Kiran’s three Orissa statemates experienced mixed luck with Sradhanjali Jena registering win, Smaraki Mohanty settling for a draw and Rutumbara Bidhar suffering defeat.
Orissa results (Round 9): Kiran Manisha Mohanty (6.5) beat A Sithalatchumi (TN), Sradhanjali Jena (5) beat MS Reddy (AP), Smaraki Mohanty (4) drew with Mili Ghosh (WB), Rutumbara Bidhar (3.5) lost to Soukhin Pramanik (Jha).
Pairings (Round 10): KM Mohanty vs Lakshmi P Sahiti (AP), S Jena vs J Sahari (AP), S Mohanty vs Vaishnavi Akhade (Mah), R Bidhar vs Sheena Aneja (Pun).
