Syan Chatterjee was today appointed as the Director General of the Sports Authority of India (SAI), replacing Ratan Wattal who will get a new posting, Sports Ministry sources said. Wattal, who took over the high-profile post five years ago, has not yet been given a new posting but sources said appointed to an additional secretary level post, they said. Chatterjee is a 1976 cadre ias officer.
