Odisha Sports Journalists Association (OSJA) observed the World Sports Journalists Day with a modest function here at Utkal Chamber of Commerce & Industry (UCCI) complex today.
The auspicious day coincided with the 90th anniversary of International Sports Press Association (AIPS), the first congress of which was held on the sidelines of the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris.
State Sports Minister Sudam Marandi graced the occasion as chief guest and assured to support OSJA in its endeavour to promote sports and sportspersons in the state. Hockey Olympian Lazarus Barla, the other guest of the occasion, lauded the contribution of sports scribes of the state. ``Without them I would not have been where I am today,’’ said Barla.
