Orissa suffered an innings and 141-run drubbing at the hands of Baroda on the penultimate day of their four-day Ranji Trophy Elite Group-B match at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack today. The emphatic win fetched Baroda three points, while Orissa drew blank.
Put into bat by stand-in captain Rashmi Ranjan Parida, Baroda compiled a strong total of 407, thanks to a century by Satyajit Parab. Among Orissa bowlers, Debasis Mohanty and Ajay Barik claimed four and three wickets respectively.
In reply, Orissa were bowled out for 131 in the first innings and 135 in the second after being forced to follow on, conceding a first-innings lead of 276 runs. Irfan Pathan and Rakesh Patel devastated the Orissa batting line-up, bagging nine and six wickets respectively in the match.
Among Orissa batsmen, Sanjay Raul and BBCC Mohapatra put up some resistance, hitting 42 in the first innings and unbeaten 53 in the second respectively. For the record, right-arm fast-medium bowler Sujan Mohanty made his first-class debut for Orissa in this match.
