Orissa`s International Master Swayangsu Satyapragyan gave a stiff fight to top seed Krishnan Sasikiran before losing his game in the fourth round of the Kolkata Open Grandmasters Chess Tournament being played at Alekhine Chess Club in Kolkata on Thursday.
According to information reaching here, Grandmaster Sasikiran had to rely on his vast experience to win the marathon contest. This was Satyapragyan`s first defeat in four games. He now has 2.5 points with two wins and a draw.
Before the defeat, the Orissa ace scored a fine victory in the Bangladesh Grandmaster over Niaz Murshed in the third round on Wednesday. Earlier in the second round, Satyapragyan held Grandmaster Koneru Humpy to a draw.
