Captains Abhinab Nanda and Ashish Mallick hit a century each to script impressive wins for Sambalpur and Rourkela respectively in two preliminary league matches of the Inter-District U-16 Boys Cricket Tournament at different grounds in Khordha and Bhubaneswar today.
Abhinab hit a 152-ball 179 as Sambalpur crushed Rayagada by 299 runs. On the other hand a 137-ball 136 by Ashish helped Rourkela trounce Jagatsinghpur by 238 runs. Angul, Kendrapara, Ganjam and Mayurbhanj posted wins in four other matches of the day.
Shreyansh Bhardwaj (72 runs, 3 wickets) and Krishna Mohanty (60* and 4/25) played instrumental roles in the wins for Angul and Kendrapara respectively. Rudra Biswal of of Balasore was the most successful bowler of the day with a haul of 5/64. But his efforts went in vains as Balasore lost to Angul.
