Jayanta Behera and Bikash Rout took three wickets each to help Odisha beat Goa by four wickets in their Elite Group-A opening match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 Tournament at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium-B in Lucknow today.
Put into bat by Odisha captain Rajesh Dhuper, Goa made a modest total of 104 for eight with Shubham Ranjane (32) as their top scorer. Ashish Rai was another successful bowler for Odisha, picking up two wickets.
In reply, Odisha too struggled for runs. The match went to the wire before Odisha romped home with one ball to spare. Anshuman Rath was the top scorer for Odisha with a 37-ball 29, while Govinda Poddar made a breezy 24 off 19 balls. Odisha will next meet Tamil Nadu tomorrow.
