Jr Hockey World Cup: Korea win a thriller; Pak maul USA

South Africa, Pakistan, Poland and Korea posted contrasting wins in respective classification matches to decide 9-16 position of the 12th Junior Men Hockey World Cup at the Kalinga Hockey Stadium in Bhubaneswar today. The four mathes produced a total of 50 goals, which include 11 in shootout.

South Africa outshone Canada 7-3 in the first match of the day to register their first win in the tournament. Cameron le Forestier scored a hat-trick for the winners to be adjudged the Player of the Match. The result means South Africa will face Pakistan in the next match as they contest for 9-12 position. Canada will play continental neighbours USA as they seek a first win of the tournament.

Pakistan registered maximum number of goals scored by a team at the Junior World Cup to make mincemeat of the USA 18-2 in the next match. Pakistan captain Abdul Rana scored four goals to pocket the award as the Player of the Match.
