Odisha boys and Bihar girls were crowned champions in the 6th Junior (U-18) National Rugby 7s Championship, which concluded KIIT Rugby Stadium in Bhubaneswar today. In the finals, Odisha boys beat Maharashtra 14-12, while Bihar girls thrashed Delhi 39-0.
Odisha girls and Bihar boys settled with bronze medal, getting the better of Maharashtra 43-5 and West Bengal 31-5 respectively. Earlier in the semifinals, Odisha boys edged out Bihar 12-10, while Odisha girls went down fighting to Bihar 5-7.
Odisha Sports Department Commissioner-cum-Secretary R Vineel Krishna and his wife SV Chandana handed over the trophies at the closing ceremony. Actor and Rugby India Board Member Rahul Bose, Odisha Rugby Football Association President Priyadarshi Mishra, Secretary Upendra Kumar Mohanty and KIIT Sports Director Gaganendu Dash were present on the occasion.
