Strong reply by batsmen enabled Odisha draw their Cooch Behar Trophy U-19 Men Elite Group-A match against Punjab on the fourth and last day at DY Patil Academy, Amby, Pune today. However, Punjab gained more points by taking first-innings lead.
Put into bat by Odisha captain Shresth Singh, Punjab rode on a century each by Taranveer, Jaskaranvir Singh Paul and a half-century apiece by Jaskirat Singh and Harjas Singh Tandon to declare their first innings at 472 for nine. Aditya Jaisingh was the most successful Odisha bowler, taking four wickets for 93 runs.
In reply, Odisha were bowled out for 354 and conceded a lead of 118 runs. Among Odisha batsmen, Surya Mohapatra (91), Dinesh Majhi (71), Niranjan Gouda (66*) and Anshuman Sahoo (60) hit a half-century each. Punjab were 153 for two in their second innings at stumps on the final day.
