Host India emerged champions in the 4th SAFF U-20 Football Championship, routing Bangladesh 5-2 in extratime of the dramatic final at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar today. Defending champions India netted three goals in the extra time after play in the regulation time ended in 2-2 draw.
Striker Gurkirat Singh was the star of the Indian triumph, scoring four goals including a hat-trick. He was declared the Most Valuable Player and Top Scorer of the tournament, while the home team goalkeeper Som Kumar earned the Golden Gloves Award.
