Asian woman powerlifting champion Mandakini Mohanta on Monday sat on dharna before Orissa Assembly, demanding recruitment in the post as police sub-inspector, under sports quota.
Also a post graduate in arts and physical education, Mandakini joined 113 other selected sub-inspector candidates in the agitation. According to the agitators, Police Department appointed three lesser-known sportspersons as sub-inspectors but left out Mohanta notwithstanding the fact that she had represented India in Women``s World Powerlifting championship twice besides winning the Asian gold.
