Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik conferred the prestigious Biju Patnaik Sports Award in five categories for the year 2021, on the occasion of National Sports Day in a ceremony held at Loka Seva Bhawan in Bhubaneswar today.
Woman weightlifting international Jhilli Dalabehera and woman shooting international Shriyanka Sadangi were conferred with the Biju Patnaik Sports Award for Outstanding Performance in Sports and Games. The duo received cheque of Rs 2 lakh. In the absence of Jhilli, her father received the award.
Biju Patnaik Award for Lifetime Achievement in Promotion of Sports and Games was given to former Odisha International cricketer, Debasis Mohanty, who became richer by Rs 3 lakh.
