Anju fails, wrestler misses medal, paddler wins

India continued to disappoints in the Beijing Olympics with best bet in athletics Anju Bobby George failing to qualifying for long jump finals and wreslter missed out on a medal losing in the quarterfinal today. However, paddler Achanta Sharath Kamal kept alive India``s campaign in the men``s table tennis defeating Spaniard Alfredo Carneros 4-2 and moving into the second round. Anju limped off the bird``s nest stadium after hurting her ankle in the trials before this morning before going into the trials putting paid her hopes for a place in the final with an NM (no mark) tag against her name as she failed to clear a single jump. Wrestling too saw India missing out on a medal when Yogeshwar Dutt failed to hold on to a lead in the third and final round of the quarterfinal tie in 60kg free style category against Kenichi Yumoto of Japan. Earlier in the day, Dutt had beaten Kazakhstan``s Baurzhan Orazgaliyeb 3-1.
