Odisha Women scripted history by reaching quarter-finals for the first time in 71st Senior National Volleyball Championship in Guwahati Assam today. Odisha achieved the feat, defeating mighty Tamil Nadu in straight sets of 25-16, 25-11, 25-20. Earlier in the day, Odisha women beat Gujarat by 3-1 sets (25-19, 23-25, 25-15, 25-13) to qualify for the pre-quarterfinals
Odisha men narrowly missed the quarter-final berth as they went down fighting against formidable Delhi by 2-3 sets (23-25, 23-25, 25-22, 25-20 & 15-17). Odisha men were placed in Pool-E along with Gujarat, Tripura, Manipur, Jammu-Kashmir and Puducherry, while the women played in Pool-E along with Andhra Pradesh, Puducherry, Uttarakhand and Ladakh.
