FAO First Division Football League concluded today with Independent Club emerging Silver Group champions, beating Sunshine Club 4-0 in the final at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack. Independent Club also qualified for the FAO Super Cup.
Earlier, Sunrise Club and Rising Star Club emerged Diamond and Gold champions on 29 July 2023. Sunrise won the Diamond Group with 19 points from seven matches, which included six wins and one draw.
Rising Star Club garnered 16 points from six matches, winning five and drawing one. A total of 23 club and departmental teams participated in the First Division League, which wss organised by Football Association of Odisha (FAO) from July 5. Teams played matches in four groups with eight in Diamond Group, seven in Gold Group and four each in Silver A and B groups.
After completion of First Division League, top four teams from Diamond Group, top three from Gold Group and the champion of the Silver Group qualifed for the FAO Super Cup, which is scheduled to take place from at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack from 23 to 29 August 2023.
RESULTS:
5 July 2023 (Match 1): Sports Odisha (Raisen Tudu 13th, 28th; D Sanjay 44th, Ronik Majhi 63rd) drew with Odisha Police (Bhole Shankar Majhi 26th, 32nd; Bijay Behera 48th, 71st) 4-4.
