Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) won the gold medal in the 2nd HAO State Senior Men Hockey Championship, defeating Sports Hostel Rourkela (SHR) 4-0 in the final at Kalinga Hockey Stadium in Bhubaneswar today. While SHR settled for silver medal, Sundargarh secured the bronze medal, beating Odisha Naval Tata Hockey Hockey High Performance Centre (ONTHHPC) 6-2 in the third/fourth place match.
A total of 222 goals were scored in the 32 matches of the championship, which was organized by Hockey Association of Odisha (HAO), in collaboration with the State Sports & Youth Services Department (DSYS). As many as 32 teams, featuring a total of 640 players, including Olympians and international medal winners have participated in the championship, which commenced earlier on September 4.
