It was heart-break for Odisha in the 77th Senior Men National Football Championships for Santosh Trophy as they suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat against Delhi in their fifth and last Group-B match at PT Mehnga Singh Stadium in Banga, Punjab today.
This was the second defeat for Odisha, who had also started their campaign with a 2-0 loss against West Bengal. Despite winning three matches in a row in between, Odisha finished third in the group with nine points. Host Punjab secured the second position also with nine points, overtaking Odisha on goal difference of seven against five by Odisha.
