A century by Shreyansh Bhardwaj and a four-wicket haul by Panakala Sasanka went in vain as Odisha lost to Chhattisgarh by three wickets in their opening Group-D match of the Vinoo Mankad Trophy U-19 Mens Cricket Tournament at CAP Ground-2 in Puducherry today.
Put into bat by Chhattisgarh captain Varun Singh Bhuie, Odisha rode on a 116-ball knock of 107 (13x4, 3x6) by Bharadwaj to compile a modest total of 221. In reply, Chhattisgarh overhauled the target in 43.1 overs, losing seven wickets.
Ashish Kumar Dahariya hit a match winning 127 for Chhattisgarh. Sasanka was most successful Odisha bowler, taking four wickets for 27 runs. Odisha will next meet Arunachal Pradesh on October 14.
