A 10-wicket haul by pacer Rajesh Mohanty and a valliant century by Sandeep Pattanaik went in vain as host Odisha suffered heart-breaking two-wicket defeat against Jammu & Kashmir in their Elite Group-D Ranji Trophy match at DRIEMS Ground in Tangi, near Cuttack today.
This was the second defeat in three matches for Odisha, who slipped to the seventh place in the group table with three points in their account. Odisha will next meet Himachal Pradesh also at the DRIEMS Ground from 26 to 29 January 2024.
Chasing a challenging target of 149, Jammu & Kashmir clinched a thrilling win on the fourth and last day, thanks to an unbeaten 66 by Abdul Samad. The win fetched J&K six points, while Odisha drew blank.
