Odisha high-jumper Swadhin Kumar Majhi emerged winner in the
Indian Grand Prix-3 Athletics Competition, which was organised by Athletics Federation of India (AFI) at Sree Kanteerava Stadium, Bangalore on 12 June 2024. Swadhin stood first with a leap of 2.10 metres.
Swadhin, who hails from Angul and trains at Odisha-Reliance Foundation Athletics High Performance Centre in Bhubaneswar, however, stayed behind his personal best of 2.15 metres which he had achieved at the World University Games trials. Odisha missed another prize in mens high jump as Nikhil Das finished fourth with an effort of 2.00 metres.
Among other Odisha athletes, Sabita Toppo secured second position in womens U-20 100m hurdles with a time of 14.31 seconds. But javelin star Kishore Kumar Jena did not participate despite registering his entry.
