Host Odisha secured 26 medals on the opening day of the 35th East Zone Junior Athletics Championship 2024 at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar today. The 26 medals featured eight gold, eight silver and 10 bronze. Over 600 athletes from 10 states are vying for medals.
The three-day championship is being hosted by Odisha State Sports and Youth Services Department, in collaboration with Odisha Athletics Association and under the aegis of Athletics Federation of India. Odisha has fielded a strong squad of 115 athletes. Odisha Sports Minister Suryabanshi Suraj graced the opening day of the championship.
