Cooch Behar Trophy: Ahmad scalps 9; Odisha drub Delhi

A match haul of nine wickets for 91 runs by left-arm spinner Sayed Tufayl Ahmad propelled Odisha U-19 Men cricket team to a 113-run win over Delhi in their opening Elite Group-A match of the Cooch Behar Trophy Cricket Tournament, which took place at St Stephens Ground in New Delhi from 6 to 9 November 2024.

The thumping win gave Odisha six points, while host Delhi drew blank. Ahmad bagged four for 32 in the first innings and five for 59 in the second. Most of his victims were trapped as leg before wicket.

Four batters also made notable contributions in the Odisha win, scoring a half-century each. They were Ayush Sutar (77), Rudra P Mallick (57), Biswajeet Pradhan (55) and captain Shreyansh Bhardwaj (54). Odisha will next face Meghalaya at Vikash Ground, Bargarh (Odisha) from November 13 to 16.
