Odisha secured bronze medal in the 14th Hockey India Sub-Junior Women National Championship, defeating Mizoram 4-3 in the match for the 3rd/4th place at South Central Railways Sports Complex in Secunderabad, Telangana today. Priyanka Minz was instrumental in the Odisha win, scoring a hat-trick.
Jharkhand won the gold medal, beating Madhya Pradesh in the final by a solitary goal. In a commendable gesture to support and encourage young talent, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced cash prizes for the top teams: Rs 3 lakhs for the champions, Rs 2 lakhs for the runners-up and Rs 1 lakh for the bronze medalists.
