Riding on the stellar performances of Mina Santa (A) and Sneha Soren, host Odisha bagged three gold and one silver medal on the second day of the Asmita Khelo India Womens Weightlifting National Zonal League 2024-25 at Ganjam Weightlifting Academy, Mahatma Gandhi Stadium in Berhampur today.
Odisha secured all four medals in the 55kg weight class. Mina won one gold each in youth and junior group, and one silver and senior category, lifting 78kg in snatch, 101kg in clean & jerk and 179kg in total. Sneha secured the gold in senior group with a total lift of 184kg, which included 78kg in snatch and 106kg in clean & jerk.
With four medals today, the total number of medals for Odisha became six. Earlier on the opening day, Odisha girls Jyoshna Sabar and Tulasi Sabar won gold in youth 40kg and one silver in youth 45kg weight categories respectively.
Organised by Odisha Weightlifting Association (OWA), the championship will conclude on January 14. As many as 16 lifters are representing Odisha in this competition.
