Manisha Naik scored a brace to enable Nita Football Academy beat HOPS Football Club 2-0 in their eighth match of the Indian Womens League (IWL) 2024-25 at Capital Football Arena in Bhubaneswar today. This was the third win for Nita FA who now stand sixth in the league table with 10 points.
Meanwhile, nightmare continued for defending champions Odisha FC as they suffered their third defeat, going down to Gokulam Kerala FC 1-3 at Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar on March 15. This was the third defeat for Odisha FC, who further slipped to fourth spot with 11 points from eight matches.
Cuttack-based Nita FA team, mostly featuring homegrown Odisha players, qualified for the top tier of the IWL by finishing runners-up in the IWL-2 last season. Capital Football Arena, Bhubaneswar is the home ground of Nita FA, which is owned by Subrat Das, an engineer by profession. Odisha international Manisha Panna is leading the team with Paromita Sit as the head coach.
