India came a cropper in the FIH Hockey Pro League 2024-25 as their senior women team suffered relegation after finishing last in the nine-team points table, and their men team just escaped the same ignominy, finishing eighth, also among nine teams.
Indian women ended their disappointing campaign with a 2-3 loss against China AT Ernst Reuter Sportfeld in Berlin today. They garnered 10 points from their 16 matches, which featured two outright wins, one shoutout win, 11 outright defeats and two shootout losses. The relegation means Indian women will compete in the FIH Nations Cup 2025-26.
Indian men won their 16th and last match 4-3 against Belgium in Antwerp on June 22. They registered six outright wins and suffered 10 outright defeats. Netherlands clinched a glorious double, winning both men and women titles. Belgium men and Argentine women finished runners-up.
