Likshit Kumar Biswal won the first medal for host Odisha in the 26th Sub-Junior National Fencing Championship at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Cuttack today. Inmate of Balangir Sports Hostel, Likshit secured a bronze medal by reaching boys epee semifinals, where he lost to Ashwin Kumar from Haryana 12-15.
Haryana asserted supremacy on the second day of the championship, bagging one gold, two silver and three bronze medals. The championship was inaugurated by State Sports Director Deepankar Mohapatra.
Odisha State Fencing Association (OSFA) secretary Debendra Kumar Sahoo, vice-president Ramesh Mallick and organising secretary Sumit Ranjan Purohit were present on the occasion.
