KIYG 2025: Odisha kho-kho girls win gold, boys get silver

Odisha won its first two medals in the kho-kho competition of the 7th Khelo India Youth Games 2025 with the State girls team gold and the boys outfit securing silver medal at the Bihar Institute of Public Administration & Rural Development Sports Complex in Gaya, Bihar today.

Odisha girls pulled off a massive upset in the final, beating defending champion Maharashtra 34-31. Led by an outstanding performance by Samarnika Sahu, who scored 12 points. The stunning win marked redemption for Odisha, who had to settle for silver at the 2024 edition in Tamil Nadu.

Trailing 10-16 at one stage, Odisha girls showed incredible resilience and fighting spirit to come back strong and clinch the title. Odisha girls coach Chaudhury Parthasarathi Mohapatra was jubilant.
