GM Boris Savchenko (Russia), Maitreyi Mondal (West Bengal) and Sahil Ghorghate (Maharashtra) were crowned champions in A, B and C categories respectively at the 16th KIIT International Chess Festival, which was held at the Viswanathan Anand International Chess Hall, KIIT University, Bhubaneswar from 9 to 16 May 2025.
Organised under the aegis of the All India Chess Federation (AICF), and with the help of All Odisha Chess Association (AOCA) the tournament featured over 1,000 participants from 43 countries. The eight-day tournament carried a total prize fund of Rs 30 lakh. Category-A champion Savchenko received Rs 3 lakh, while the title winners in Categories B and C were given Rs 1 lakh each.
