All the five Orissa players failed to find a place among the top 30 in the final standings of the 3rd Kolkata Open Grandmaster Chess Championship, which concluded at Gorkey Sadan today.
In the 10th and final round, four of them drew their respective games, while one suffered defeat. International Master Swayangshu Satyapragyan signed peace treaty with Mohammad Taibur Rahman (Bangladesh) to finish with five points.
Woman International Master Padmini Rout and promising boy Debashis Das ended up with 4.5 points apiece after drawing their last games against J Ramakrishna and Sayantan Das respectively.
Swayamsh Mishra held Javed Mohammad (Bangladesh) to a draw to close his account with four points. Woman International Master Kiran Manisha Mohanty (3) was beaten in the last round by Abhratanu Dutta.
