Odisha qualified for the knock-out stage (pre-quarterfinals) of the Vinoo Mankad Trophy U-19 One-Day Cricket Tournament, getting the better of fancied Baroda by six wickets in their fifth and last Elite Group-A match at Sehwag International School Ground in Jhajjar (Haryana) today.
After a defeat in their opening match against Gujarat, Odisha made a remarkable comeback, winning their next four matches against Andhra, Vidarbha, Goa and Baroda. Odisha bowlers Piyus Ranjan Mantri, Sayed Tufayl Ahmad, Priyanshu Mohanty, Rudra P Mallick made remarkable contributions throughout the tournament with their disciplined and impactful spells.
Opting to bat today, Baroda folded up for 107 in 27.3 overs. Among successful Odisha bowlers, Priyanshu Mohanty and Rudra P Mallick picked up three wickets each, while Ahmad scalped a brace. Odisha chased down the target comfortably in 18.4 overs, losing four wickets.
