Administrators of Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) kept themselves busy in the preparation for the staging of the India-South Africa first T20 International at Barabati Stadium, Cuttack on December 9, while the State Senior Men suffered a humiliating innings and 50-run defeat against Andhra on the last day of their four-day Ranji Trophy Elite Group-A match at the same venue today.
This was the second defeat in three matches for Odisha, who earlier lost to Baroda by seven wickets, also at Barabati Stadium earlier on October 18. In their second match, which ended in a draw against Uttar Pradesh at Green Park Stadium, Kanpur on October 28, Odisha secured one consolation point.
Opting to bat, Andhra rode on an unbeaten century by Shaik Rasheed and a half-century apiece by Srikar Bharat, Abhishek Reddy and Saurabh Kumar to muster an imposing total before declaring their first and only innings at 475 for seven.
