Up-coming sprinters Amiya Mallick and Shrabani Nanda were today felicitated by DAV Public School, Chandrasekharpur, for winning medals in the Commonwealth Youth Games at Pune earlier last week.
The duo received angavastra and cash award of Rs 5,000 each from School Managing Committee Chairman Er B C Pattnaik and Principal Dr K C Satapathy in a function at the school campus in Bhubaneswar. The two athletes` coaches Nilamadhab Deo and Rajesh Kumar Singh were present on the occasion.
A trainee of Government Sports Hostel here, Shrabani won a gold in women`s 4x100 metre relay, while Amiya, a 12th standard student of DAV Public School (Chandrasekharpur), claimed a bronze in men`s 200 metre sprint, clocking 21.33 seconds. The duo returned home earlier yesterday.
