Kalpana Dash (38) from Dhenkanal today became the first from Orissa to conquer the Mount Everest, world`s highest peak at 8,848 metres.
According to unconfirmed sources, she is the first civilian woman from India to scale the summit. Kalpana scaled the peak at 11.30 a.m., confirmed Arun Trek & Expedition Training from Nepal. After she scaled the Everest, the news was hosted on website www.arunexpedition.com.
