Cuttack youngsters Swastik Suvam Patnaik and Pratyasha Jena grabbed titles in the open and girls categories of the Odisha State U-10 Online Chess Championship which was conducted by All Odisha Chess Association (AOCA) in tornelo platform on 17 and 18 June, 2021.
Swastik emerged open category champion, scoring five points with four wins. Ayuhman Mohanty of Puri finished runner-up also with five points. In girls category, Pratyasha topped the table with 4.5 points out of a possible five, while Shradha Smaranika Nanda of Cuttack settled as runner-up with four points.
The State championship was inaugurated by Odisha Police Housing Corporation Managing Director Dr Sudhanshu Sarangi. All India Chess Federation treasurer Naresh Sharma, AOCA president Ranjan Mohanty, secretary Debabrata Bhatta, treasurer Shankar Prasad Mishra, Fairplay Committee member IM Sidhant Mohapatra and chief arbiter Suresh Chandra Sahoo were present on the occasion.
