Odisha posted their first win in the Cooch Behar Trophy U-19 Men Cricket Tournament, beating Assam by 83 runs on the fourth and last day of their second Elite Group-A match, which concluded at Deccan Gymkhana Cricket Ground in Pune today. The win fetched Odisha six points, while Assam drew blank.
Put into bat by Assam captain Reshabh Dipok, Odisha made 198 and then dismissed Assam for 178 to gain a first-innings lead of 20 runs. In their second innings, Odisha compiled 231 to set a target of 252 before the opposition to win the match. But Assam were bowled out for 168 in the second essay to lose the well-contested match.
Saideep Mohapatra, Aashirwad Swain, Sambit Baral, Ashutosh Chhuria and Aditya Jaisingh delivered nice performances for Odisha. Mohapatra scored 45 and 65 in the two innings. Swain hit 59 in the first innings and 27 in the second. He also held five catches in the first innings.
