Indian GP-2: Prasanti, Susmita win bronze medals

Odisha women athletes Pragyan Prasanti Sahu and Susmita Tigga won one bronze medal each at the Indian Grand Prix 2, while setting new Personal Best timing in respective events at Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium in Trivandrum, Kerala today.

Pragyan finished third in 400m hurdles with a time of 59.22 seconds, while Susmita too finished third, completing the 3000m steeplechase in 11 minutes and 26.45 seconds. Both the athletes are trainees of Reliance Foundation Odisha Athletics High Performance Centre in Bhubaneswar.

Avinash Sable of Maharashtra put to shade his own national record in the mens 3000m steeplechase, clocking 8:16.21. He also became the first Indian to get past the qualifying norms for this years Commonwealth Games, Asian Games and World Championships.

Around 120 athletes, including 40 women vied for honours in 16 events of the Grand Prix 2.
