CK Nayudu Trophy: Odisha suffer innings defeat

A century by opening batter Aashirwad Swain and a half-century by Debasish Samantray went in vain as Odisha lost to Jharkhand by an innings and 88 runs on the penultimate day of their four-day Col C K Nayudu Trophy Elite Group-C opening match at Greenfield Stadium in Trivandrum, Kerala today.

Put into bat by Odisha captain Rajesh Mohanty, Jharkhand were in dire straits, losing four wickets for 59 runs. But a century each by Sahil Raj (184) and Aditya Singh (133) and a mammoth partnership of 281 runs for the fifth wicket between the two helped them make a first-innings total of 452.
