Hockey Association of Odisha (HAO) crashed out of the the 12th Hockey India Sub-Junior Women National Championship, losing to Hockey Madhya Pradesh by a solitary goal in their second and last Pool-D match in Imphal, Manipur today. HAO finished second in the pool with one win and one loss.
Hockey Madhya Pradesh qualified for the quarterfinals, winning both of their league atches in Pool D. HAO started their campaign on a winning note, trouncing Hockey Uttarakhand 5-0 earlier on May 15. Supriya Kujur was the captain of the 18-member HAO team with Anandita Toppo as her deputy.
Supriya Kujur led the 18-member HAO team with Anandita Toppo as the vice-captain. HAO president Dilip Tirkey and State Sports Department (DSYS) Joint-Secretary Sailendra Kumar Jena interacted with the players in Bhubaneswar on May 8 and encouraged them to do the best in the tournament.
