Defending champions India settle for bronze medal in the 11th Mens Asia Cup Hockey Tournament, beating Japan 1-0 in the 3rd/4th-place match at the GBK Sports Complex Hockey Stadium in Jakarta, Indonesia today. Raj Kumar Pal scored the all-important goal for India. South Korea won the gold medal, defeating Malaysia 2-1 in the final.
India were unlucky to miss the berth in the final as they finished third in the Super-4s league with one win and two draws. Malaysia, Korea and India tied the top two spots with five points each. Malaysia and Korea eventually made it to the final on goal-difference.
