Three-time gold medallists Australia and defending champions Belgium booked the last two of the four direct quarterfinals berths in the 15th FIH Mens Hockey World Cup by topping Group A and C respectively with majestic wins at Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela today.
World Rank 1 Australia rode on a four-goal blitzkrieg to make mincemeat of South Africa 9-2 in their last Pool-A game. The Kookaburras emerged undisputed Pool-A toppers with seven points from three games.
Argentina finished second in Pool-A, garnering five points. Argentina suffered a mini setback in their last pool match as France held them to 5-5 draw in the second league match of the day. Victor Charlet (France) and Nicolas Della Torre (Argentina) scored a hat-trick each for respective teams.
