A 21-member Odisha State squad emerged overall team champions with a rich haul of 40 medals in the 34th National Sub-junior & Junior Canoe Sprint Championships, which was held at Upper Lake in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh from 9 to 12 February 2024. The 40 medals consisted of 25 gold, 11 silver and four bronze.
Odisha bagged 13 gold, 8 silver, 4 bronze in junior competition and 12 gold, 3 silver in sub-junior section. All 21 paddlers were trainees of SAI National Centre of Excellence, Jagatpur, Cuttack. They were accompanied by SAI coaches Laishram Johnson Singh, Prithviraj Shinde and Nazis Mansoori.
