Odisha secured silver medal in both boys and girls events of the Sub-Junior (U-14) National Rugby Sevens Championship 2023, which was held at IIT Gandhinagar, Palaj, Ahmedabad, Gujarat on 13 and 14 February 2024. As many as 27 States participated in the two-day championship.
Bihar clinched a double by winning gold medals in both boys and girls groups. Rajasthan boys and Maharashtra girls settled for bronze medals. In the final matches, Bihar boys beat Odisha 25-0, while Bihar girls prevailed over Odisha 5-0.
The 12-member Odisha boys team reached the final, defeating Daman & Diu 25-0, Delhi 5-0 and Uttar Pradesh 10-0 at the league stage; Jharkhand 5-0 in quarterfinals and Kerala 5-0 in semifinals.
