CK Nayudu Trophy: Odisha go down fighting to Karnataka

A responsible century by captain Sawan Pahariya and a six-wicket haul by Asutosh Marndi went in vain as host Odisha lost to Karnataka by nine wickets in their fourth Group-A match of the Col CK Nayudu Trophy U-23 Men Cricket Championship, which was held at Gandhi Stadium in Balangir from 8 to 11 November 2024.

Electing to bat, Karnataka rode on a century each by Prakar Chaturvedi and Manvanth Kumar to compile a big total of 389. Asutosh Marndi was the most successful Odisha bowler, capturing six wickets for 92 runs.

In reply, Odisha were bowled out for 185 with Saideep Mohapatra as the only batter to score a half-century. Forced to follow on after conceding a first-innings lead of 204 runs, Odisha put up improved batting performance to muster a sizeable total of 346. Leading from the front, captain Sawan Pahariya scored a century, while Sujal Singh slammed 84.
