Puri clinched a coveted double crown by winning both the boys and girls titles in the 37th Odisha State Youth Basketball Championship, which was organized by Odisha Basketball Association (OBA) at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Cuttack from 11 to 13 November 2024.
In the two finals, Puri boys beat Odisha Students Club, Cuttack 73-65, while Puri girls got the better of Club the Entertainer, Cuttack 63-45. Bishnu Behera and Subhangi Mitra (both Puri) bagged the best player awards in boys and girls categories respectively.
Arun Kumar Mishra was the coach of both the Puri teams. He attributed the success of the Puri teams to hard work and discipline. “Puri district sports body also provided very good support,” he acknowledged.
