Ranji Trophy: Orissa post innings victory over Bihar

Orissa achieved a new feat in Ranji Trophy by registering innings victory for the first time against Bihar on the last day of their four-day East Zone match at Baripada Stadium in Baripada today. This was overall 41st win, 20th by an innings in a total of 183 Ranji Trophy matches for Orissa and 3rd win in 47 matches against Bihar.

Pravanjan Mullick, P Jayachandra, BBCC Mohapatra, Ajay Barik and Sanjay Satpathy were star performers for Orissa, followed by notable contributions by Rashmi Ranjan Parida and captain Sanjay Raul.

Mullick maintained his superb form with the bat, hitting an unbeaten 207 (265 balls, 21x4, 4x6) in the only innings of Orissa and followed his batting feat with two wickets in the opposition second innings.

Jayachandra hit a career best 116 (131 balls, 10x4, 4x6). Identical feat was achieved by BBCC Mohapatra, who bettered his previous career-best knock with 114 (126 balls, 15x4, 2x6). Orissa batsmen asserted complete supremacy in batting department with Parida and Raul notching a half-century each.

Orissa bowler played equally important role in their emphatic win. Among them pacer Ajay Barik and offie Sanjay Satathy stood out claming six wickets each in the match.
